Director Boopathy Pandian speaks about Pattathu Yaanai
Speaking about this film, he said, “Normally in the films, the comedian will come in the life of hero for relaxation but in the case of this film, the hero will come in the life of the comedian and do action sequences.
The whole story of this film will travel on Santhanam. Vishal will solve his problems by entering the life of Santhanam.
The film has 80% of comedy and 20% of action. Isn’t this formula good? Now there is a question that whether Santhanam or Vishal is the hero of this film. Santhanam is a catering contractor in Karaikudi.
He gets two contracts on the same day. One is from the local rowdy’s house marriage while the other one is from the police officer’s house marriage from the same locality.
When Santhanam is in dilemma, Vishal gives the idea, “Let’s take the contract of the police officer. By doing so we can get the rowdy arrested.” Unfortunately on the day of the marriage, the police officer is transferred.
Santhanam gets caught by the rowdy. Vishal gives another idea to Santhanam. He tells to Santhanam that instead of depending others, they can open a restaurant in Trichy on their own.
The climax takes place in Trichy. In the climax sequence, Santhanam cooks for a function and adds poison to Vishal’s food. Why Santhanam is so adverse towards Vishal is narrated with romance and action.
Normally in my films there will be no comedian. The hero, heroine and villains will do the comedy. Santhanam will be the wholesome comedian throughout this film.”
