Actor Vijay said he has been conducting ‘mass marriages’ from time to time for peace of mind and not to garner any sort of publicity whatsoever.
On behalf of the ‘Narpani Iyakkam’ of Vijay fans in Trichy District, marriage for 15 couples was conducted in Trichy on Sunday. Vijay, who took part in the event, gave away sets of gifts to each couple consisting as many as 51 items/objects. Vijay personally handed over the nuptial knot to the couples and blessed them.
The gifts to the couples included utensils and articles required to run a family such as bureau, mixie, etc. Some women, who were married off at the event, did pose some questions to Vijay in a casual manner. Answering their queries, Vijay said his Thalaivaa would soon be out in theatres and assured that it would be a visual treat to his fans.
“Conducting marriages such as these are in no way connected with politics…I have been doing to in order to achieve peace of mind. I feel satisfied in rendering such services to the people. I feel nothing can equal these services and nothing can be more satisfying than this. I have left it to my son Sanjay’s choice to decide about his career. As far as my daughter Divya is concerned, she is just a small kid and it’s too early to talk about her career,” Vijay concluded.
