Lyricist Vairamuthu has mourned the demise of legendary playback singer P.B. Srinivas who passed away in Chennai on Sunday (14th April). “It is highly regrettable that the voice which helped spread love across the globe for more than half a century is no more with us ” Vairamuthu has said.
P.B. Srinivas, who held his own against the likes of the legendary T.M. Soundararajan, A.M. Raja, Ghantasala and Seergazhi Govindarajan was also a multi-lingual lureate. In his condolence message, Vairamuthu has described in his inimitable style the ever-green voice of PBS. “We are shocked to learn that the voice which spread love and wiped the tears of many for more than half a century has stopped singing from today.
“PBS;s voice was so unique from others, that honey like voice was capable enough to wash away all the worries out of our minds; His ever-green songs would stand the test of the times for many more years to come. Though he wasn’t a Tamilar by birth, he never uttered wrongly even a single word in any of his memorable songs. Though he is no more with us, his songs would continue to accompany us. At this moment, I’m at least happy that I happened to write the last lyric sung sung by him for a film in Aayirathil Oruvan. I join his millions of fans in mourning his loss,” the statement said.
