There doesn’t seem to be any reduction in the number of offers director Bala has been getting post the release of his latest directorial venture Paradesi. Released a couple of weeks ago Paradesi won critical acclaim from the critics and movie-goers but failed to live upto its expectations at the box-office.
The no-show of Paradesi doesn’t appear to have diminished interest in Bala among the film fraternity. Bala was even accused of ill-treating the crew of Paradesi by beating them with a long stick during the shoot of the film. Set against the backdrop of a tea estate more than a century back, the film appears to have failed to find reception among a cross-section of audiences.
The debate as to what would be Bala’s next film and who would be starring in it has already started. Even big stars are reportedly in touch with the frail-looking director with the request to make a film starring their heirs. Prabu, son of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan and a great actor in his own right, is the latest actor to have got in touch with Bala with a request to make a film starring his son.
Prabhu’s son Vikram Prabhu made a grand debut as hero with Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki late last year. Prabhu reportedly spoke to Bala and asked him to bring out tbe best in his son as an actor. Sources close to Prabhu say that the burly actor believes that his son would become a ‘complete’ actor only if he got to star in films made by directors such as Bala.
Not sure whether Bala agreed to Prabhu’s proposal as yet!
