VTV Ganesh, one of the executive producers of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan’s upcoming Vishwaroopam-2, had informed a couple of days back that the sequel film would be releasing on 15th August this year. Released after many controversies, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam turned out to be a colossal hit in Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country besides doing very good business in European countries and U.K.
One of the issues which dogged Vishwaroopam was Kamal’s decision to release it on DTH before its theatrical release. The contentious issue was finally resolved and Kamal relented later on and agreed to release the film first in theatres and finally, dropped the DTH idea. The same issue is rearing its ugly head now as some reports say that the sequel Vishwaroopam-2 might have a DTH release first before it hits theatres.
Kamal Haasan’s PRO has, however, dismissed rumours that the sequel to Vishwaroopam might have a DTH release prior to its release in theatres. He has said that there is no truth whatsoever in those rumours and wondered that how could such rumour spread when the film’s post-production work has been going on and the film is not even ready for its theatrical release.
If Kamal saved U.S. from the clutches of terrorists in Vishwaroopam, he gets more patriotic and saves India in the sequel. Ascar Ravichandran, who produced Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus Dasavatharam is reportedly taking up the release and distribution in theatres of the sequel to Vishwaroopam.
