Radhika Sarathkumar the undisputed ‘queen’ of the Tamil soap for close to a decade now and has almost ‘booked’ in her name the prime time slot of 09:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on SUN TV, irrespective of her husband Sarath kumar’s political affiliation to the AIDMK. Her latest serial Vani Rani is also scheduled on the Prime time,on this Radhika Comments
“I attempt doing things differently and that’s why I’ve been able to retain the prime-time slot continuously for the past 12 years now. Story and the backdrop is very important in tele-serials and I feel I have been able to sustain myself because I take on diverging roles and pair up opposite persons who are even younger to me in terms of age. I feel acting, transcends age and many other barriers.
“The ‘switch-over’ from films to small screen wasn’t an easy one…the team work put in on small-screen is much more than the one put in for films. Longevity has been my forte in films as well as on small-screen as I tend to take up confidence-boosting roles which instill a feeling of ‘I can do anything’ in women. I don’t think of anyone as my competitor and never restricted myself from giving my fullest possible effort.
“I give 100 per cent in all sorts of endeavors I make. I have lots of commitments now as I have to take care of my husband, children and the crew who works for me. In such a backdrop, I can’t think about politics as I feel I won’t be able to involve myself in it with optimum degree of commitment,” concludes Radhika.
