Last time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan came forward in support of a social cause was alongside cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in the ‘Support My School’ . Following up she was recently spotted at the 2nd edition of the IBN7 Zindagi LIVE Awards. As you can see in the picture above the prestigious function also had Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and cricketer Gautam Gambhir supporting Aishwarya as she took the opportunity to address an issue quite dear to her.
Citing the horrendous Delhi rape incident that set the nation in fervent attempts to bring an end to the immoral acts of sexual harassment in India, she remarked “I don’t feel fear, rather there is a lot of anger and I don’t hesitate to say this. Many of us are privileged to have a lot of assurance about our safety but most of the women in our country do not have that. A lot is being said but a lot more needs to be done about it. There should be definite laws for offenders. They should be punished immediately. That is when we will see the change in the society.”
Furthermore she mentioned “Such incidents still happen. It also happened the very next day of the Delhi gang rape. But I am glad that we are talking about it. The incident has brought about a lot of attention and awareness but the change needs to come immediately.”
The event held at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi concluded once the Chief Minister felicitated the individuals recognizing their efforts for their infectious zeal and positive attitude.
