Very few instances can be cited wherein a film gets appreciated and admired for its making even before it hits the screens. Director Bala’s upcoming film Paradesi falls into one such category as accolades have been pouring in from all quarters.
Known to make script-centric films rather than hero-centric films, Bala is now all set to release his Paradesi which has upcoming young actor Adharva essaying the male lead opposite Dhansika and Vedika Kumar. All the lead actors and actresses have been subjected to undergo vast difference in their physical appearances for their respective roles in the film, as inferred from the trailer and publicity stills of the film.
The script of the film is said to be about the lives of the tea-estate workers who lived during the pre independence era. Based on the Malayalam novel Eriyum Panikkadu, the film has been completed in record time (by his own standards) by Bala and is all set to release next Friday (15th February) all over Tamil Nadu and elsewhere.
However, uncertainty prevails over the film’s release date with some saying that it might get delayed by a week to release on 22nd February. The publicity still photos of the film appearing daily in regional and English dailies don’t point out to a particular date. On his part, Bala has been showing ‘major sequences’ of the film to some directors close to him.
Balu Mahendra, mentor of Bala, watched these sequences and has remarked that in his opinion, Paredesi is by far Bala’s best creation as on date.
