In order to deviate from the oft-trodden path, a new production house by name Komali Paradise has launched their maiden production venture titled Komalini which would have neither a planned script nor a ‘perfect’ climax. To top it all, there won’t be any specific actors or actresses whose names would be displayed in the title cards.
The entire film has been shot with ‘candid camera’ in which all the characters which appear in the film would be shot in their respective natural habitats and not in an ‘artificial’ set-up. As such, no make-up would be applied on the actors/actresses and there won’t be any light-boys on the sets carrying reflectors to ensure proper lighting during the shoot.
With no shooting equipment which might attract the attention of the passers-by, the entire film has been shot on hidden camera without the knowledge of those who appear in the film that a film was being made and that they were part of it. After shooting all the desired sequences, the film would get a shape at the editing desk. “For the first time in the history of films, such an attempt is being made,” explains Aras.
“I worked as an assistant director in a few films made for a television reality show to find out the best director. My work was appreciated by the likes of actor-director Prathap Pothan, cartoonist Madhan and director Vasanth. Komalini also has some sequences which would depict conversations with some ‘spirits’ besides Siddhas who live in forests and the many yogis and tantrics.
“No film has ever been shot in candid camera before this; and this film has been made with no story, screenplay and climax,” concludes Aras alias Tirunavukkarasu. The film has music by Ved Shankar while Rajesh is the cinematographer.
