Actor Vijay’s latest film Thuppakki has been declared as one of the few success stories of 2012. The film, which released on Deepavali last month, is in its eighth week at the box-office and is expected to limp to 100 days some time in February next year. The problems Vijay and the crew of Thuppakki faced in retaining the film’s title were widely reportedly earlier. Producer of Kalla Thuppakki had strongly opposed the title and filed a case with the Court but finally relented after an ‘out-of-Court’ settlement.
Vijay has already started the shooting of his next film which is being directed by A.L. Vijay. Amala Paul pairs up opposite Vijay for the first time in the film which has music by G.V. Prakash Kumar who is also working for a Vijay-starrer for the first time.
As if the problems faced vis-à-vis the title while making Thuppakki aren’t enough, Vijay is again facing problems vis-à-vis getting a title for his new film. The film was first titled as Thalaivan and the title then changed to Thanga Magan, which is the title of a Rajini hit film, released in 1983. Rajini’s fans, however, expressed their displeasure in Vijay using this title.
Now the producer of the Rajini-starrer, V. Thamizhazhagan has denied permission to AL Vijay’s request in using the title for his Vijay-starrer. Hence the crew is now in search for a title. AL Vijay, who has the penchant for completing the writing of his script, screenplay and dialogues at one go, is said to be working overtime in thinking up a suitable title for this film.
