There’s no stopping Anushka from trying out new things. Despite her in-born ‘disadvantage’ of being taller than most of the contemporary heroes, Anushka happens to be the favourite when it comes to films starring leading heroes and films made with a mega-budget.
Anushka was hardly perturbed by the no-show of her latest Tamil film Thandavam opposite Vikram. The film, directed by Vijay who also directed Anushka and Vikram in last year’s Deivathirumagal, didn’t do wonders at the box-office. However, Anushka had great news in the form of her Telugu hit Dhamarukam opposite Nagarjuna.
She has recently signed up to play the lead role in Rudhramadevi, a Telugu-Tamil bilingual whose script has been set up several centuries back. For her role in this period film, Anushka is said to have given to director Gunasekar a ‘loooooong’ call-sheet schedule of 150 days. Usually, Anushka doesn’t allot more than 30 days on the trot for a film’s shoot and has made an exception in the case of Rudhramadevi.
Anushka plays a warrior queen in the film. The queen, as per the script, is adept in sword-fighting. In order to make herself fit for the role, Anushka has already started taking sword-fighting classes as she wants to look original on-screen while featuring in such sequences. The lanky Anushka has confessed to her close circle of friends that she firmly believes that Rudhramadevi would get her more name and fame than she managed through Arundhati.
