Filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon is not bound to any disappointments as his last Friday release Neethaane En Ponvasantham has turned out to be a below average fare.
Most of the reviews have appreciated the performance of Samantha and musical score of Ilayaraja alone. In fact, there are some reviews that say that the filmmaker is brimming with lots of overconfidence with the success of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, which should have prompted him to make such a movie.
Nevertheless, while speaking with the media channels, the director mentioned saying, “I accept the fact that my previous film Nadunissi Naaigal was a terrible one, but while watching the first copy of Neethaane En Ponvasantham, everyone including Ilayaraja showered their praises saying that it’s a beautiful film. I am very much influenced by filmmakers like Manirathnam and Martin Scorsese. They have a unique style of filmmaking and placing the shots that enhances the intensity of characterizations.”
