Director Suresh Krishna is famous for his evergreen blockbuster hits with Superstar on films like Baasha and Baba. He had recently unleashed his work in a book called ‘My Days’ ,which portrayed his early days with Rajinikanth.
In his recent interview he explained how he got the project ‘Annamalai’. At the start ‘Annamalai’ was offered to director Vasanth to hold the megaphone.But due to some personal reasons Vasanth could not make it. This chance was offered by Kavithalaya Productions. Then the immediate next choice was director Suresh Krishna who had given previous hits for superstar. The opportunity came through K. Balachander, who had requested him to take up the project.
Without further delay he accepted the offer and had started the shooting with in two days. At that time the whole story was not completed ,anyway the film was proceeded .Many scenes and dialogues were scripted on the day of shooting.This includes the famous ‘Kannakku’ scene. Suresh Krishna considered himself very lucky to get this project which had been a massive milestone in his career.
