Ace director A.R. Murugadoss has advised upcoming and new directors to first make name for themselves in the industry before approaching big stars to make films starring them in the lead. A R Murugadoss is in happy spirits these days after his latest directorial venture Thuppakki, released for Deepavali, has just touched the 25-day mark in most of the centres it was screened.
To a recent query at an event as to whether big stars can patronize newcomers by starring in their maiden ventures, Murugadoss answered “Newcomer should deliver at least 4 of 5 hit films and gain some reputation and only then should they be approaching top stars like Ajith Kumar to feature in their films,”. It might be recalled that Murugadoss was a greenhorn when Ajith decided to star in his very first directorial venture Dheena way back in 2001. The film’s success gave Murugadoss the much needed thrust in Kollywood and he then went from strength to strength.
The director is likely to make his next venture with Ajith in the lead; no details, however, have so far been made available.
In the past Ajith has given a good platform to the then debutant directors S.J. Suryah, A.L. Vijay and A.R. Murugadoss with Vaali,Kireedam and Dheena respectively.
