‘Thala’ Ajith, who watched Thuppaki recently, found time amid his busy schedule to ring up Ilayathalapathy Vijay and A.R. Murugadoss and congratulate them for their stupendous work and for the film’s success. Vijay’s latest film Thuppakki, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, was released on Deepavali last week and has been doing very well in theatres across the state and elsewhere.
It’s not often a leading hero congratulates one of his contemporaries on the success of his film. The rivalry between Ajith and Vijay is blown out of proportions by the media but the two actors, whenever they meet or come across each other in public, never fail to exchange pleasantries and pose for photographs as if to show they’re close friends and that their fans need not clash on the eve of release of their respective films.
Thuppakki, incidentally, is directed by AR Murugadoss to whom Ajith gave the biggest break of his life by agreeing to star in his direction in Dheena almost a decade back. The film turned out to be a colossal hit and ARM hasn’t looked back ever since. A top hero saying ‘yes’ to a film directed by a rank newcomer is unthinkable in Kollywood and on that count, it can be said that Ajith has played a significant in the mammoth growth of AR Murugadoss as a director.
Soon after watching Thuppakki, Ajith rang up Vijay and Murugadoss and conveyed his wishes to them on the film’s success. Ajith’s open appreciation of Vijay’s film has made Vijay and Murugadoss extremely happy. It is also said that AR Murugadoss’s next film in Tamil might feature Ajith in the lead role.
