Tension prevailed near actress Sona Heiden’s Teynampet residence yesterday for a few hours as more than 100 persons assembled in front of her house. The protesting men laid ‘siege’ to the sexy Sona’s house and raised slogans against her for her reported ‘anti-men’ remarks, for comparing men to a ‘tissue paper’ which should be put into the dustbin as soon as its ‘purpose’ is over.
Stung by the protest from men folk to her remarks, Sona denied making any such remarks and said that she had been ‘misquoted’. However, her comments had already made her the target of criticisms and protests. Protesters numbering more than 100, persons under the banner Men’s Protection Association congregated near the actress’ Teynampet residence in the morning and raised slogans against her.
Slogans were raised condemning Sona for her remarks and asking her to withdraw her remarks unconditionally by tendering an open apology. Soon, police arrived at the spot and arrested the protesters, making Sona feel a huge sigh of relief. The Association has, however, announced that it would proceed with the process of initiating a criminal case against Sona.
Advocate Arul Thumilan, president of The Association for Protection of Men-Tamilnadu, said “Sona’s remark that men should be ‘used only as a tissue paper and thrown into the dustbin after having sex deserves highest condemnation. She had also made disparaging remarks against the institution of marriage and the custom of getting married. She has not issued an open apology, so our next course of action for us would be to file criminal cases against her.”
Now it would not take Sona to call for her next photo session in the name of press meet 🙂
