Prakashraj, the actor-par-excellence and one of the most versatile artistes in the country, has an insatiable appetite for making and be a part of quality films. Over the years, Prakashraj has produced some memorable films in the form of Azhagiya Theeye, Mozhi, Abhiyum Naanum, Payanam and Dhoni. It’s his never-say-spirit to keep on making films of substance irrespective of the box-office result tht makes him stand out from the rest of his peers.
After making his directorial debut in Tamil with the critically acclaimed Dhoni which released a few months back, Prakashraj is all set to launch his next film as director. The film has been titled as Un Samaiyal Araiyil (USA). Fans and those close to him are well aware that the 47-year old national award-winning actor’s love, respect and regard for the works of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja are as legendary as his acting and film-making prowess.
After working with the Maestro for the first time in Dhoni, Prakashraj has signed up the former again to score the music of Un Samaiyal Araiyil as well. Often compared to Bollywood greats such as Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal and Boman Irani when it comes to sheer talent and acting skills, Prakashraj is mighty thrilled about his second directorial venture in Tamil.
Un Samaiyal Araiyil, he reveals, would be the remake of the Malayalam hit film Salt N’ Pepper and is being made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Ilaiyaraaja has scored 5 songs in the film which would be one of the film’s greatest pluses, according to Prakashraj. He also plays the hero in the film and has signed up the talented Tabu as his heroine in the film.
Tabu, who still looks ravishing despite on the wrong side of thirties, is hoping to get more Tamil films in her kitty once USA releases!
