Actress Monica has made a change to her name for Mollywood, where she will be called Parvana.
She is ‘Parvana’ only as far as her commitment to star in Malayalam films is concerned. The actress, who impressed many with her role of a teenager in Parthiban’s Azhagi, is trying her best to make deep inroads in Mollywood.
Monica started off as a child artiste and graduated into a heroine but except for Silandhi in which she sizzled in a sexy avatar, none of her films in Tamil managed to make a mark. However, Monica hasn’t lost heart and has been carefully selecting her assignment from Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages and even has a few Malaysian films in her kitty.
Born as Rekha Maruthiraj, the 25-year old Monica has recently forayed into the world of Malayalam films with 916 which has Anoop Menon, Asif Ali, Mukesh and Meera Vasudev as her co-stars. The film released last weekend to a mized review. “Script is the strength of the film and I’m happy to have entered Mollywood in a film directed by award-winning director Mohanan,” says Monica.
“I play a medical college student in the film which narrates the tale of two families. The film would soon be releasing in Tamil Nadu. I want to do films which would make the audiences remember me as an actress of substance. I yearn to do challenging roles,” says Monica and informs that henceforth, she would be known as Parvana in Mollywood films.
“I shall continue to remain Monica for Tamil audiences,” she adds flashing her pretty smile.
