In all probability, Simbu’s Podaa Podi should enter the Deepavali race at the very last moment.
With just a week to go for the D-Day, producers and directors have been making last-ditch attempts to ensure that their films hit the screens on Deepavali, the most significant day for Kollywood in terms of the number of films releasing on that day every year.
Simbu’s Podaa Podi, which has been in the making for more than two years now has plans to release on Deepavali day but some time back, it was said that the film might opt out of the Deepavali race. But the Film units are confirming they are making every effort to get the film by the 13th, though the censor is yet to be done.
The film is in a race with Vijay’s Thuppakki, Ammavin Kaipesi, Kallathuppakki and Ajantha. In fact, Simbu is said to have told the makers to ensure that the film is released earlier in theatres, than Vijay’s Thuppakki.
This has opened the floodgates for a box-office clash between Vijay and Simbu and something which the fans and movie-goers would be relishing.
