Swathi says that she has refused to act in Malayalam films
Swathi said that it is true that she has denied acting in Malayalam films. Swathi who had acted in Subramaniapuram said, “After Subramaniapuram I got lots of opportunities to act in Malayalam films. I did not accept them since I did not know the language.
I was not able to deny when I was approached to act in the Malayalam film Amen directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. I was very much interested to don the role of a Malayalam Christian girl in that film. It was a new experience wearing the Kerala traditional Mundu dress. It took one day to pronounce this word itself.
I am continuing to act in Tamil and Telugu films. Lijo had earlier approached me to act in the Malayalam film City Of God but I refused it because it was similar to the role that I had donned in Subramaniapuram. When the director approached me for Amen, he clearly mentioned that I have not donned such a kind of role so far.
I agreed to act because of his motivation. The Malayalam culture surprised me. They are hard workers. The industry people are young and very talented. I was surprised when people there recognized me. I will decide to act in Malayalam films only after seeing the success of Amen.”
