Not long back there was news that “Barfi” was adjudged India’s official entry to the Oscars. The film took over Surya’ 7aam arivu and Balaji Shaktivel’s Vazhakku Enn 18/9 , and a bunch of other flicks all over India to make it to the top.
There is also news that producers UTV motion pictures were keen to bring the film to the Kollywood market as a remake. Barfi featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz has been doing exceptionally well not only in North but also down South. Now we hear that Simbu aka Silambarasan has been approached by the UTV people to play the lead role in the Tamil version. Though his contemporary Jiiva’s name did pop-up, it is more likely that Simbu lands the role.UTV motion pictures is also bringing Delhi Belly to the Tamil audience in the form of Settai, sans the swear words and profanity from the original. Approaching Simbu for Barfi’s remake they also came to know that the actor himself has watched Barfi twice and he’s mighty impressed with Ranbir’s character. It has to be seen if Ileana reprises her role in the Tamil version and who steps in for Priyanak Chopra. If everything is settled and done Simbu well start work on the Tamil remake of Barfi next year, post Vaaalu, Vettai Mannan and Poda Podi.
