Film industry folks (read: actors, actresses, technicians and others) are usually very keen in investing their hard-earned money. The most widely followed technique of investing money is in the form of purchasing ‘immovable property’ such as plots of land, residential complexes, etc. It’s no wonder that Santhanam, the leading comedian of today, indulges in the same.
The trend of investing in real estate was pioneered to a great extent by ‘comedy king’ Goundamani way back in the eighties. Senthil, who starred in more than 100 films and formed a successful association with Goundamani, then plunged headfast in the real estate business. It is rumoured in Kollywood that the comedian duo is earning a lot at present by way of renting out all those houses/complexes.
It is reported that Santhanam is just expanding what his predecessors did. He is said to be planning to bring up a huge residential complex comprising a minimum of 50 apartment houses. He is also said to be planning to rent out all these houses and is not going to sell them for the time being. Mnay in the industry assert that contrary to popular perception, renting and not selling, is a profitable affair.
Such a proposal would ensure a huge income on a permanent basis to Santhanam which should stand him in good stead even if he falls out of favour with film producers and directors in the near future. Santhanam, though, is keeping it as a secret as to where all these residential houses are coming up.
