Actor Dhanush is likely to be paired up opposite Sonam Kapoor, one of the young and upcoming actresses in Bollywood, in his debut film which would go to the floors soon. The actor had said a few months back that he intended to move to Bollywood not as an actor but as a director and had even held preliminary round of discussions with some leading heroes in Mumbai to play the lead role in his debutant directorial venture.
Dhanush to pair up opposite Sonam Kapoor?
As it happened, he himself would not be debuting as an actor in Hindi films. It wasn’t planned, insists Dhanush. The film which would take Dhanush to an all-India audience has been titled as Raanjaah and would be directed by noted film-maker Anand L. Rai. Rai was apparently impressed after watching Dhanush in his s national-award winning performance in Aadukalam and chose to cast him as the hero in his film.
In the meantime, the Why this Kolaveri di…. song from Dhanush’s upcoming film 3 (which is likely to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi dubbed versinos) has made him a popular figure across the country. The song, penned and sung by Dhanshm and which features in his yet-to-be-released film, has found an all-India audience thanks to its simple bilingual (Tamil+English) lyrics.
Raanjaah is likely to be made with Varanasi as its backdrop. Sonam, daughter of popular Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, has been one of the most sought-after heroines in Mumbai. Anil Kapoor probably holds the record when it comes to starring maximum number of Hindi remakes of Tamil super-duper hit films including superstar Rajini’s Mannan and Bhagyaraj’s Andha 7 Naatkal and Enga Chinna Rasa.
Like her father, Sonam too appears to associate herself with South-based films, actors and directors. Sonam, who is busy with her other Hindi film projects, is likely to be willing to make the ‘necessary adjustments’ in her call-sheet dates so as to pair up opposite Dhanush in Raanjaah.
