Actor Sarath Kumar hasn’t been doing a lot of films nowadays. His political commitments as well as his responsibilities in discharging his duties as the president of Nadigar Sangam have apparently been keeping him away from films. As a sitting MLA, he also has to attend the session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly too.
He was spotted in choreographer-filmmaker Raghava Lawarence’s Kanchana last year in which he played the pivotal role of a transgender. Sarath has of late been doing quite a few number of Malayalam films too. He is presently playing the lead role in an upcoming film titled Vidiyal opposite the soon-to-be-married Sneha.
What has excited him the most in recent times has been the role he’s offered in superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kochadaiyan. The film, which has Deepika Padukone and Shobana as the heroines, has a host of stars including Sarath Kumar, Aadhi, Prithviraj and Bollywood’s Jackie Shroff and is being directed by Rajini’s younger daughter Soundarya.
“I’m proud to be sharing screen space with Rajini Sir. In fact, Rajini narrated a script to me a few years back. Though the script was so good, for some reasons, it couldn’t be made into a film. The story still remains at the bottom of my heart. Now that I have got another opportunity to star in his film, it’s indeed a happy affair. Who wouldn’t want to play a major role in the film which has the country’s biggest superstar in the lead?” asks Sarath Kumar.
We can’t but agree with you!
