Mahaan Kanakku – Tamil Movie Review

Movie: Mahaan Kanakku
Star Cast : Ramana, Lollu sabha Jeeva, Reecha Sinha
Direction : Sambath Aarumugam
Music : A.K.Rishaal Sai

Actor Ramana’s patient wait seems to have paid off. Finally Mahaan Kanakku has come a blessing in disguise for Ramana, who is still looking for a big break in Tamil cinema. It is his ticket to stardom.

Debutant filmmaker Sampath Arumugham has touched up on a larger issue in Mahaan Kannakku. The movie is about an individual’s fight against private banks in the nation that cheats his customers.

A relevant theme. Three cheers to director and the actor. They combine well to deliver a best show. Jeeva (Ramana) aspires to make it big in IT field. He completes his MBA. He lives with his sister Janaki (Devadarshini) and her husband Vardharajan (Srinath).

Varadharajan borrows money from a private bank (OCOC Bank). Though he repays the loan on time, the bank puts him in a spot of bother. They start to harass him and humilate him calling him a defaulter.

A dejected Varadharajan ends life with his family. After their death, Jeeva comes to know the whole incident. The onus is now on him to bring to light the highhandedness of such private institutions that make people suffer in silence.
How he does it forms the second half.

Ramana does a splendid job. He is at his best all through and delivers a matured and best performance in his career.

Reecha Sinha is wasted as heroine. Sreenath and Devadarshini are tailor-made for the character. Saravana Subiah, editor Suresh Urs, Manobala are also in the cast.

There are some moments where the movie goes preachy, but on the whole it is entertaining and educative.
