Actor Suriya is getting read for his mega-release in the form of 7aum Arivu on Deepavali eve next month. The actor has reportedly played triple roles of a scientist, a Circus artiste and a Buddhist Monk in the film. The film, produced by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, had its audio releasing recently at a glittering function held in the Chennai Trade Centre.
Shruti Haasan, Kamal Haasan’s mightily talented and multi-faceted daughter, debuts as heroine in Tamil films with this film and is paired opposite Suriya. Talking about the film, Suriya says “I play a Buddhist Monk who is actually a Tamilian by name Bodhi Dharman. While the whole world appears to be aware of Dharman’s qualities and recognizing him in every possible way, ironically, there appears to be no trace of him in Tamil Nadu where he was born more than 1,500 years back.
“As there’s been no record available in our State about Dharman, no filmmaker had ever thought of making a film to ‘introduce’ him to the Tamil audience. Murugadoss, who reads a lot of fiction and history, read about Dharman and became restless as he felt that somehow, his story ought to be brought on celluloid. He then launched this film and sent me to Viet Nam to get special training in martial arts.
“I was surprised to know that medicine to cure diabetes is not at all sold in the country, as the lifestyle followed there doesn’t make anyone diabetic. I was a bit tense initially to star opposite Shruti, daughter of the legendary Kamal Sir. She has put in an awesome performance in a role which is equal to that of mine; in my opinion, Tamil cinema has got a lovely and talented heroine in her. She’d surely go places,” concludes Suriya.
