The handsome-looking Sundar C tried his hand at acting in few films. Husband of actress Khushboo, Sundar has directed many super-duper hit films like Ullathai Allithaa, the Rajinikatnth-starrer Arunachalam and Kamal Haasan’s Anbae Sivam. The actor in him apparently urged him to test waters in acting but unfortunately he couldn’t achieve as much success as an actor as he did while directing films.
Determined to make it to the top as an actor, Sundar starred in many films and opposite many frontline heroines. Except for Thalainagaram (which had a hilarious comedy section from Vadivelu), though, none of his films clicked in a big way at the box-office. His latest film as an actor is Murattukkalai (remake of the Rajini-starrer of the same name) opposite Sneha which is completed and lying in cold storage for want of ‘courageous’ distributors to release the film.
In between hosting a reality show for a popular regional television channel along with veteran director Bhagyaraj and attending to Khushboo’s legal problems, Sundar has reportedly taken a major decision career-wise: that is to concentrate only in directing films from now onwards and not acting in them. In the hindsight, this might prove to be a major and positive decision for him!
Sundar’s new directorial venture is likely to star Vimal and Mirchi Siva in lead roles. As always, comedy would occupy major portions in the film. More than anything else, the film might also mark the ‘comeback’ of comedian Vadivelu, who appears badly sidelined after the change of regime in the State.
