With Fox Star Studios into Tamil film production, co-produced by AR Murugadoss, Engeyum Eppothum is the first of the two film series to be directed by the producer duo. While a lot of film producing methods, including financiers, funds from distributors’ exists, it gives us good reason to doubt that for Engeyum Eppothum, the credited producers could have spent only little money in producing the film.
The film seems to have a lot of corporate/media sponsorships in almost all the scenes with names of different brands subliminally and overtly flashing. From a textile outlet to cigarettes, Engeyum Eppothum looks replete with subliminal advertisements.
E SPIRIT is repeated a number of times in the dialogues. Kings is repeated and the brand is overtly shown with the box in Ananya’s hands. Incredible India flashes on screen on the buses. So, with all of them being promoted subliminally, the producers would have had little to spend on the film, if corporate sponsorship did take place.
One should say that it is cleverly done in the guise of the props required for the film. If it were true, the producers wouldn’t have had to spend a time on the film with the plethora of brands flashed in the movie.
