South Indian superstar Rajinikanth, who agreed to launch the audio of the Tamil version (Maaveeran) of megastar-turned-politician Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja’s 2009 Telugu blockbuster Magadheera, did not turn up for the event held on April 16 in Chennai.
According to reports, the actor cancelled the programme to avoid confronting the press and their questions in the midst of an election controversy in Tamil Nadu. The plan was that Chiranjeevi would release the audio by presenting it to Rajinikanth.
The actor landed in a controversy when he was reportedly shown by some television channels casting his vote in favour of a political party, contrary to the election rule of the secrecy of voting.
There were rumours that the election commission would conduct re-polling in Thousand Lights constituency where actor Rajinikanth was reportedly shown by the TV channels casting his vote in favour of a party.
