The mortal remains of actress Sujatha (58), who died of a heart attack on Wednesday, were laid to rest on Thursday. The last rites were performed at the Kilpakkam crematorium, Chennai.
A galaxy of stars, including Kamal Haasan, Y. Gee Mahendran, K. Balachander, K.S. Ravikumar, Srinivasan, Manobala, K.R. Vijaya, Lakshmi, Suhasini, Latha, Saranya, Sridevi, Vittal Prasad and Rajesh visited the actress’ residence before the cremation and paid her rich tributes.
Vijaykumar, who was paired with Sujatha in several films including her debut film Aval Oru Thodarkadhai, said the actress was very sincere in her profession and a talented artiste.
“She was always a silent performer, but after her wedding, she chose to devote her time and energy completely towards her family and kept to herself even during film shoots. In the last few years, she detached herself from the film industry to a great extent, and did not even attend public events or functions,” he added.
