Solli Adippen is yet to see the light of day but comedian Vivek is already into his next venture as hero. “It is the job of the producer to release Solli Adippen which is all about a revenge subject. But for the delay, I would have given the heroes a run for their money,” says Vivek, with a twinkle in his eye.
Hero Vivek is ready with Kondithoppu Subbu where he has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues and directed by Saravana Sakthi. “It’s a mix of comedy, action and thriller,” says Vivek.
Of his other hero venture – Nandhan Bala – Vivek says it is about a friendship between an orthodox brahmin youth and a rowdy narrated in a humorous way by director Kannan.
Lending his voice for a number in Solli Adippen was at the request of director Ramki. “He felt the fast beat number could do with a new voice like mine. Rendering a number shot on me as hero is an added bonus,” said Vivek.
Honoured with the Padmasri award – the first time such an award is bestowed on a comedian – has given the added sheen for this Balachander discovery.
On the distinct influence of the M.R. Radha brand of comedy, Vivek said the idea is that the message has to reach the audience. “Nadigavel Radha had a great sense of timing with the ability to tune the volume as per the need of the script. I followed his style without realizing but stuck to it after gauging the popularity,” says Vivek.
Vivek is to enact the Surilirajan brand of comedy in the forthcoming Vada. “Comedy is serious business, as it has to have a variety to hold audience interest,” reveals Vivek.
