Vannathupoochi – Tamil Movie Review

VanathupoochiStar-casts: Sri Lakshmi, Bala Singh, Siddarth and many others.
Production: Azhagappan
Direction: Azhagappan
Music: Rehan

In simple words, ‘Vanathupoochi’ doesn’t offer biggest entertainment of commercial elements, but delivers a strong message more appealing for today’s generation. Well, today’s machinery life has almost deteriorated the human values and relationship. We’ve turned to be mores workaholic where we don’t focus in our personal life and relations. ‘Vanathupoochi’ boasts about this hardcore theme where a child with her broken hearts yearning for her parent’s love seeks happiness in her grandfather.

On other terms, there haven’t been any specified flicks catering for Children audiences. Hats off to director Azhagappan who comes with this bold attempt during the era where big tickets with outlandish genres are making high waves…

The film revolves around 8yr old Divya (Sri Lakshmi), a filthy rich girl sickened in her heart due to improper parenting by her dad and mom (Siddarth and Madhavi Sharma). Rich life doesn’t gratify this young fille who’s taken by her dad’s principal to the village. Over there, she meets her grandpa (Bala Singh), whose soul thirsted to meet her granddaughter. Now they tend to share good relationship and sooner, Divya becomes the favorite girl of everyone in town.

But the wretchedness strikes when Divya’s parents arrive in village to take her back. As they force her to get back with them unwillingly, she registers a case against them. The judge (Revathi) heeds the petition and grants a favorable judgment that’s quite shocking not just for the parents, but as well real life parents and youngsters…

Everyone have done their parts well and little girl Divya presents her character top-notched. No questions on Bala Singh: he’s best as in his previous films. Musical score by Rehan isn’t impressive while cinematography with eye-catching locales.

Although, Azhagappan has got a good script in hand, the screenplay goes more flimsy failing to capture the audiences’ interest.

Maybe, Azhagappan can attempt recommending this flick for various film festivals…

Bottom – Line: Doesn’t entertain, but strong message

Verdict: Middling in narration…
