Stepping out from the box of clichéd formulas, recent times has been witnessing quite a new era with different motifs. Naan Kadavul, Yaavarum Nalam and now ‘Arundhathi’… Well, there have been more flicks patently getting through re-incarnations and seeking vengeance. ‘Arundhathi’ isn’t an exception. So, what’s extremely different from earlier films based on the same themes? Over-the-top visual effects and brilliant sound designs with magnificent art works. They’ll make ‘Arundhathi’ engrossing it with stunning results.
Arundhathi (Anushka) belongs to the royal dynasty of Kandarva Kottai Samasthanam in 1920. She’s well known for her bravery in restoring the Samasthanam by killing Pasupathy (Sonu Sood) an evil doer who creates ruckus in that place. She is praised as Jakkamma (named after the famous goddess in that area). But the spirit of Pasupathy haunts that place. Another girl in born in the same lineage after 3 generations and she is named as Arundhathi. The spirit of Pasupathy is after Arundhathi to take the revenge. Rest of the story is all about how Arundhathi puts an end to the evil spirit of Pasupathy.
Anushka who made her debut in Kollywood ‘Rendu’ makes a spellbinding comeback. None could’ve expected such a rocking show of work from her part. Her attitudes of getting through gestures especially in the dance performance and stunt sequences are mind-boggling.
Sonu Sood strides with an enchanting performance that goes equivalently powerful as that off Anushka. Manorama and Sayaji Shinde carry film’s strength on their parts. Particularly, Sayaji Shinde sways till the end with a justifying culmination.
Kodi Ramakrishna puts on the best ingredients of entertaining screenplay blending modern and ancient era. The stunning physique of Anushka is a grand fiesta for the front-row audiences while for the elite groups it’s an outmost entertainment of best visuals and set decorations.
On the whole, don’t miss this film for the path breaking efforts of filmmaker Kodi Rama Krishna. With good technical aspects, ‘Arundhathi’ is a must watching film.
Bottom – Line: Riveting film of the season.
