Though Mayandi Kudumbattar has ten directors in its cast, director Tarun Gopi’s is the central role. Therefore it could be said that Mayandi Kudumbattar is his debut film as a hero. Tarun earlier had plans to produce Kattuppaya, in which he was to be the hero.
But when Rasu Madhuravan approached him with the script of Mayandi Kudumbattar, he found it very appealing and readily accepted the role. In fact, Tarun says he was almost moved to tears by the poignancy of the story. Tarun has two heroines in this film – Poongodi from Kerala and Tamizharasi from Bangalore. The talented director, who directed Thimiru (Vishal) and Kaalai (Simbu), is quite confident that his work as a hero will go down well with the audience.
The shooting for Mayandi Kudumbattar started on December 8th in Vathalagundu and is going on well. Indeed, as described by producer Selvakumar, the camaraderie of these ten directors has converted this filming into a picnic experience for them as well as the unit!
