Recently, the Tamil version of Rajinikanth’s biography ‘The Name is Rajinikanth’ written by Dr. Gayathri Srikanth was launched in the city by M.P. Kanimozhi. After the book launch, the author and her husband called on the superstar at his residence.
The couple was accompanied by S.P. Muthuraman, a director who was highly instrumental in building Rajni’s superstar status and one of the chief guests of the book launch event.
After the exchange of pleasantries, the hospitable host eagerly enquired about the launch in detail and also the readers’ response. Then he expressed his gratitude to the young writer and expressed his confidence that the Tamil version would do as well as the English version released a few months ago. Titled ‘Rajni Pera Kettale’, the book has been peppered with excerpts and rare anecdotes not found in the English version.
Both versions attempt to capture Rajinikanth’s journey from a common man to a superstar, creating a universal appeal.
