Suhasini, a talented actor in her own right, is married to eminent director Mani Ratnam since several years. But so far, Mani Rathnam never cast her in any of his films. Suhasini, who is currently in Kerala for a film’s shooting, was pleasantly surprised when she received a call from her husband.
Not just to say ‘Hi’; it was to offer her a role in one of his upcoming projects. An elated Suhasini later told the media that her husband has finally recognized her acting talents! Incidentally, Suhasini is Kamal Haasan’s neice (she is the daughter of Charu Haasan, Kamal’s elder brother).
Suhasini will surely have a vital role in Mani Ratnam’s untitled film. Though nothing much has been revealed officially about Suhasini’s role, it is likely that she will play a queen. Mani Ratnam has never done anything without a reason or having thought things through. It should be interesting to see the kind of character that Mani Ratnam would be giving his wife in her first on-screen collaboration with her husband.
The film, based on the grand epic Ramayana, stars Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan. Previously, Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi, the Rajinikanth-Mammootty starrer, was loosely based on the Mahabharat.
