In an exclusive interview with Shakthi Girish, Editor of Galatta Cinema, earlier today, Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar spoke his heart out in order to express his true feelings, sentiments and concerns towards the Sri Lankan Tamil issue that he feels has unnecessarily dragged him into a controversy.
He feels pained that baseless rumours and falsehoods have been doing the rounds across the media that he felt the need to clarify so that the Tamils around the world understand that he does feel for them and sympathize with their cause.
Here are a few of his heartfelt statements:
“Firstly, I would like to say that my sympathy and prayers are with the suffering and troubled Tamils in Sri Lanka. My heart goes out to them and I pray that there is a solution to the issue so that their suffering ends at the earliest”
“6.5 crore Tamil people know that I don”t give any interviews or make any statements that are politically motivated. The only time that I make official statements is before the release of my films and pertaining to my films alone. The allegations against me are baseless rumours”
“As for the Tamil people overseas; the Producer of my movie Aegan is Mr. Karuna, also known as “London” Karuna ” he is himself a Tamil from Sri Lanka and I have been associated with him for the past 1″ years and he too knows of my sympathies and awareness towards the hardship of him, his family and scores of other Tamils, have been subjected to ” why on earth would I make any Anti-Tamil statement being a Tamil actor myself and so closely associated with Tamils around me ” I owe my well being to them”
“While I empathize with the Tamils I also believe in democracy, in our political system and our political leaders ” I believe they are well informed and they are the right people to put an end to this crisis. As an actor, my primary duty is to bring happiness to my viewers and fans through entertainment irrespective of caste, creed or colour. As a human being, my heart goes out to all the innocent people across the world subjected to terror especially the Tamils in Sri Lanka and across the world”
“Once again, I believe in the Almighty our Maker and I pray for a solution to end this crisis and the suffering of Tamils in Sri Lanka at the earliest”
It is reported that there have been some acts of violence against the producers of the Ajith”s latest film Aegan and boycotting of the movie in some overseas centres.
The latest update from the Tamil Nadu audiences who have just seen Aegan is that it is going to be a huge hit across centres.
We will have to wait and watch if this issue affects the box office collections of the movie in overseas markets or not.
