If you love films about camaraderie, college life and fun, then Pugaippadam is one film you should watch out for. Produced by N.C. Manikandan under the banner of Mayabazaar Cinemas, Pugaippadam (also referred to as Pugaipadam) is an amazing film based on a true story of the college days of eight friends.
Gangai Amaran, who makes a comeback with this film, has proved that he is always young at heart by scoring vivacious and youthful numbers. Rajeshlingam, who has been an assistant to Selvaraghavan, directs the film.
The most interesting fact is that the real life people, on whom the film is made, do not know about this conversion of flashbacks from their college life into a film. They will be pleasantly surprised when they watch this film and learn that it is about them. Director Rajeshlingam is very confident that this film will bring all these friends back together. And this indeed is a novel idea of reuniting friends through a film.
The film marks the debut of 8 newcomers from different walks of life. They are: Amjad, a marketing executive of Radio One FM; Shivan, a hip-hop artist; Harish, who had editor to directors K. Balachander and Visu; Nanda, a dance master in John Britto’s dance school who trained actors like Suriya and S.J. Suryah; Mrinalini, an assistant to director Rajeshlingam and a native of Kolkata; Priya, an NRI from USA, an aspiring actor who got a break in this film; Yamini, a student from Andhra Pradesh; and Venkat, of TV reality show ‘Jodi No. 1’ fame.
Pugaippadam will serve as a nostalgic time travel to your college days and is poised to join elite movies of Kollywood like Kalloori, Autograph, Kalloori Vaasal and Kadhal Desam.
