Sarathkumar, the able leader of Nadigar Sangam, has voiced the concerns of film actors in participating in the Rameswaram protest.
Sarathkumar stated that he pledges his allegiance to the decision of Producers’ Council and Directors’ Association to hold a protest in Rameswaram. But at the same time, he is concerned about the security of the actors and will not be able to assure that all members of the Nadigar Sangam will be at Rameswaram on the protest day.
He cited the previous protest against the Karnataka government (for not sharing Cauvery waters with Tamil Nadu) as an example – many actors lost their belongings as they were thronged by mobs, who even pilfered the food ordered for the actors when they broke their fast.
To avoid facing all this trouble again, Sarathkumar has suggested holding the protest in Chennai. Sarathkumar also declared that if this is not possible, he will participate in the Rameswaram protest with actors willing to take the risk and will not take any action on non-participants.
